Best moment from yesterday's flight: an interchange with security. Dude tells me he needs to look through my bag -- I figure that it's because of the favors from A&A's wedding, which were model ships sealed inside Snapple bottles. He pulls out the bottles, at first with a look of sad determination, which quickly melts into the giggles as he realizes what's in the bottles. He says to me, "You see, you're not allowed to have empty bottles either," and then turns to his coworker and says "I need some help here" and shows him the bottles. The coworker retorts, "It's not empty, it's got a ship," and we're waved along, bottles in hand.

I am of course left with the lingering question of, Empty bottles? Nowhere in the posted warnings (which are approximately everywhere, as those of you who've traveled in the last 2 weeks know) could I find a prohibition on empty bottles -- nor can I make any sense of it whatsoever, even if I assume the liquid-bomb threat is real. Well, it worked out okay, at least.

Worst moment from yesterday's flight: a tie, actually. The first of these was when our BOS flight arrived at the gate in DTW about twelve minutes before our connecting flight was supposed to depart, and then got to watch as some royal bitch college kid decided she was more important than the rest of us with twelve-minute connections and tried to shove everyone out of the way, saying (I kid you not) "Well, *I* can squeeze through, so *I* am going to." It was kind of comical, actually, because nobody let her by and several people scolded her, but it was still a bad moment. The other worst moment was actually running for the plane and feeling for about ten minutes like I was going to vomit a lung. (The runner-up for worst moment was seeing Pushy College Kid at the baggage carousel in MSN and realizing she did in fact make the flight. :P )

NWA's response to the close connection problem was interesting. They told everyone on the BOS-DTW flight who wasn't connecting to sit down and wait, but of course most people were connecting because Detroit is a big ol' hub, and damn if it didn't feel like it took *longer* than it should've to get out. I wonder if they would've gotten better results if they had specified that only people connecting to destinations X Y and Z should get up right away. On the other hand, when people with close connections are window seats by two people who aren't connecting it all, that doesn't help. Yeah, I don't think there's much they could've done here.
