[livejournal.com profile] cos has an interesting post about a new use of wireless technology for instant communications with strangers. It's basically a public message board, to which you can post by texting from your cell phone. And by "public" I mean "on display in a well-trafficked area."

He's looking for new venues -- it's apparently a success in at least one of the popular Boston-area coffee shops. As much as I visit local coffee shops I don't know the culture of any of them well enough to know whether this would work particularly well at specific ones. O my caffeinated brethren, do you know of any places he should call? (Non-cafes are great, too!)

Thanks!

We actually came very close to getting one in a goth club in New York, which would've been wonderful! But the new owner of the place changed his mind at the last minute. But yeah, it's certainly not just for cafes :) We've got a pub, a sub shop, and an ice cream parlor so far.
