I think I'd like to learn more about the first and second Great Awakenings in America. I know I have a couple historian friends; do you have any suggestions on (a) good scholarship in the field or, failing that, (b) how to find good scholarship in the field?

I'm a historian of science, with a focus on modern Europe, so I can honestly admit that I know nothing useful about American history. I have plans to fix that, but not until I plow my way through my required reading lists.

But I can ask for suggestions from my fellow students since everybody else in the department at the moment is an American historian.
