eiriasThanks, everyone, for your responses. As it happens the issue is something none of us thought of, and for good reason: The car company accidentally turned the car off remotely. I'm not entirely sure how this happens at all, and I'm really not sure how it happens remotely; what I do know is that it is, to borrow a word, dumbassinine and I will not be renting from Advantage Rent-A-Car anytime soon, and neither should you.
They did give us a discount, but we lost some time we could've put to good use, and they made us make a ton of phone calls to sort it out, so I am still less than thrilled.
