Real Live Preacher has some beautiful words about homosexuality and the larger Christian message.

The Salty Vicar writes about homosexuality too. He also writes thoughtfully about the changing economics of sex and how the vast economic changes in the world must affect our interpretation of Scripture.

If I had been exposed to these people when I was younger, I might still be a Christian. I would probably not, however, still be a Catholic.

If I had been exposed to these people I still woulnd't be Christian, I'd just have less harsh words for them. :) Yes, I agree not all Christians are annoying, egocentric and judgemental. There are some good ones. RLP sounded allright to me. Unfortunatly it seems that the one who are "in charge" tend to be conservative fundamentalist.

That RLP piece about how churches often are nowadays is right on. At least as with my experience with them in the Bible belt.

But religious arguments against condeming homosexuality is kinda a moot point with me, since I tend to disagree with religious arguments on principle.

I'm actually not sure that it's always the ones "in charge" who are fundamentalists - they're just the loudest. Like many splinter groups, they're angry about what they see as the deplorable state of our culture today and they want it fixed, now. Both of the preachers I linked to have active parishes themselves. And the Episcopalians did vote last year to confirm a gay priest as one of their bishops. Those opposed were (and are) merely a very vocal minority.
