Car problems solved

Thanks, everyone, for your responses. As it happens the issue is something none of us thought of, and for good reason: The car company accidentally turned the car off remotely. I'm not entirely sure how this happens at all, and I'm really not sure how it happens remotely; what I do know is that it is, to borrow a word, dumbassinine and I will not be renting from Advantage Rent-A-Car anytime soon, and neither should you.

They did give us a discount, but we lost some time we could've put to good use, and they made us make a ton of phone calls to sort it out, so I am still less than thrilled.

I agree that the concept of a car you can turn off remotely sounds assinine and is probably a product of excessive paranoya.

ya know, turning off a car remotely is potentially a good idea, if it's stolen or something. however, if it's out for rent with someone? panic-ensuing and really bad. merf. stinkyheads.

I first read that sentence as dumbassinine and I will not be renting from Advantage and wondered why you were describing your husband in such unflattering terms... ;)

I must confess to having made the same mistake.

A discount? A discount. OH HOW GENEROUS OF THEM AFTER TURNING OFF YOUR CAR WTF.

Seriously. That's insane.

That better be an amazingly generous discount.
