Evangelists may desperately want to bring the faithless to a belief in God. Well, I gotta say their strategies could use some work, because I have enough trouble believing in some of the believers. Here is the dumbest argument I have ever heard in my whole entire life for why God must exist. If you've got a broadband connection and no one around to disturb, you should follow that link and fast forward to about 2:30 or 3:30 and just listen. Unbelievable. Just unbelievable. If I were God I'd smite that guy with a raging allergy to bananas.

E and I are having a great time heckling this!

Also, banana allergies are such a pain in the ass, so that seems fitting.

"brain liposuction" is definitely an appropriate title.

Personally, I'm just disappointed that there appears to exist at least one kiwi creationist.

I first heard this mentioned on Penn Gillette's radio program yesterday, and was so baffled that I had to see it. I mean... wow. It's like distilled essence of stupid.

Of course, bananas all being clones, at least the Bananatarians would be pro-cloning...

On second thought...

You should watch this (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8610362188397291938&pl=true) instead.

Wow, I don't even know where to start with that. The childish, dysfluent lyrics! The awkward, uncoordinated dancing! The haircuts, OH GOD, THE HAIRCUTS!

Thanks for sharing. At least now the worst fashion mistakes to come out of that country are in the form of over-the-top metal bands.

I'd like to remind you of Carl Lewis's "Break It Up" (http://youtube.com/watch?v=jamJ4-C_TME)

Man. I tried to watch it and I just couldn't finish.

But the REAL shock is in the last 20 seconds of the video!

...The hell!?!?! OK, that was super random. And creepy. The whole cult of "one woman of every flavor" is creepy enough, but at least he's representing the AARP set. Or something.
Old women are dangerous in saunas, I'll tell you what. But real women don't wear their swimsuits.

The single to that song, by Carl Lewis and the Electric Storm, sold 250k copies in Europe. The mind reels.

Well, a banana is also perfectly shaped to be shoved up one's ass. Does that mean that God wants us to be sodomites?

Oh, he's been a super crispy christian for quite a long time. "The Way of the Master" is his long-time video-evangelism 'project'.

Is project even the right word for that?

Yeahh... you may be right that that's what he meant, but if so, I think maybe the "religious group X is gonna burn" jokes got a little less tasteful about sixty years ago ;)

I've heard "crispy" used before as a nickname for someone who was always made fun of for being comically over-earnest. That's what I took it to mean here, though on reflection it may be a useage distinctive to a small group of people (perhaps as narrow as one sports team at my old school).

i just realised that the modern day banana is nothing like the banana's ancestors. those ones have no grooves. the modern banana is human-made.

the chick at the end was great. she stood her ground and made kirk feel like a jackhole, and he still kept talking. the only reason she said she'd think about it is so he'd shut up already.

Lordy. Being at work, I glanced at the first few moments with no sound. I guess I can see where they were probably demonstrating how easy it is to hold a banana. Then again, they could also have been demonstrating beginner's techniques for a hand-job.

I can't watch it. (For some reason the plug-in needed for this and other sites to watch stuff like this causes my browser to crash every single time I try to use it. So, I don't have it as not crashing and not seeing it is better than crashing and not seeing it.)

Ummm I take it it's some argument about how bananas are so well-designed for humans that there must be a god behind it?

You know, acorns are so well-designed for squirrels and vice versa, but that's because they each affected the other's evolution.

Yeah, you got the gist. I just didn't want to write about it before people had had a chance to see because it's just so much better if you can see or at least listen to it. The ridges on the banana and the creases between knuckles, the fact that you can pull on the stem and the "perforated" banana skin obligingly gives way, the fact that bananas are perfectly sized for human hands and mouths... yeah, all clearly evidence of divine intervention. If I were a Christian, I think I'd be ashamed that these guys were speaking for my faith.

Especially since wild bananas look nothing like that and the ones we have now are so far removed from their original function that they're sterile and we have to clone them.

Uh huh.
